The GCI Summit and Seminar 2022

Please join us in congratulating our Fellows and Educators on their completion of the 7th Annual GCI Summit and 3rd Annual GCI Seminar, held inaugurally in St Andrews, Scotland!

GCI was thrilled to welcome and meet face-to-face 29 new Fellows and 13 new Educators, as well as 8 GCI Fellowship alumni ("Ambassadors") returning as Teaching Assistants, for the first time since our last in-person programming in 2019.

The Fellows and Educators explored and grappled with the theme of Sustainability as they participated in activities that broke down barriers, built up trust and encouraged Harkness®* (Discussion-Based Learning) and Design Thinking methodologies. They also learned from the wisdom and initiatives of Scotland’s impressive dedication to this work, as they wondered about and worked towards confronting how to face these challenges today with tomorrow in mind.

Together, we explored our cultural diversity and unique perspectives to open our eyes to new ideas and ways of thinking. While we were sad to see everyone go, we know that the conversations started at the Summit and Seminar are far from over, and we are all looking forward to the next GCI Reunion!

Now that the Fellows have returned to their homes and schools around the world, they will continue to work on their “Glocal” Service Projects for the duration of their 10 month Fellowship. Each will be supported by a mentor who will provide advice and guidance as they implement their projects. For the first time, this year the Educators will also work on projects of their own as they apply their newly-developed skills and learnings to their classrooms and school communities. Each of the Fellows and Educators continues to grow as a true global citizen, and we cannot wait to see what they will do next!

We are so grateful to all who participated, sponsored, donated, endorsed and worked on the Summit and Seminar 2022 in St Andrews, Scotland. These programs could not have happened without your amazing support and dedication! Thank you!
