Global Citizens Initiative (GCI) is accepting applications for the GCI Seminar for Educators (July 26 - July 31, 2022) at the University of St Andrews in Scotland! We hope you will join us and spread the word about this transformative opportunity; we are looking forward to another powerful and inspiring cohort of educators!
The GCI Seminar is an exciting professional development opportunity for secondary school educators interested in empowering their students to become agents of positive change. With the challenges highlighted by the ongoing global pandemic, we know that human connectivity, one of GCI’s core principles, is more critical than ever.
Participants will engage with and learn from fellow educators from around the globe as well as experts from Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero and Phillips Exeter Academy. Additionally, the voices of secondary school students participating in the concurrent GCI Summit will be centered throughout the program.
“Aside from the magnificent physical space that we were in, I believe the meat of my experience at the Seminar came from the mental space that we were in. …A space that is co-created by fellow educators from around the world… that pushed us to challenge "traditional" schooling and offered a constructive perspective on moving forward.”
Muhammad Bassyouny
Seminar Participant 2019
The Seminar capitalizes on Scotland itself as a classroom, highlighting its impressive dedication to sustainability and innovation. The program includes an excursion to The Isle of May Natural Nature Preserve as a focal point for this year's overarching theme of Sustainability: Meeting our Needs, Now and Next. A Design Thinking workshop will be facilitated at the V+A Dundee, and guest speakers will join us at the University of St Andrews, a world leader in education with a 600-year history. Together we will wonder about, wrestle with and work towards confronting challenges and opportunities we face in building a more sustainable future.
The application deadline is Friday, March 18, 2022. Admissions notifications will be sent on a rolling basis; a limited amount of financial aid for tuition and/or travel is available.
