Happy Holidays 2018-2019!

Holiday Card 2019

As we celebrate the holidays, we wanted to take a moment to thank you and reflect on our accomplishments of 2018, many of which were big firsts for GCI:

  • We awarded the GSP Seed Funding Competition for the Fellowship 2017 $1,000 Grant to Sydney from Kenya and the $500 Runner-Up Grant to Karla from the US

  • GCI launched the 1st Annual Professional Development Seminar for educators in parallel with the 5th Annual Global Citizens Youth Summit in Cambridge, Massachusetts

  • We hosted our first big GCI Reunion, where we were joined by 30 Ambassadors and Fellows for one and a half days of speakers, panels and great meals in New York City

  • GCI welcomed Rita Gail Johnson as our new Chief Operating Officer, to lead GCI's efforts with Yumi Kuwana

  • We held our inaugural Champion A Champion Golf Classic in conjunction with the Matsui 55 Baseball Foundation, Inc. A big thank you to all who participated and contributed to this successful fundraising event

  • GCI partnered with the Greenwich International Film Festival on a Social Impact Video Competition, supporting and building awareness in our own local community

  • We continue to support our Fellows 2018 as they positively impact their local communities through their Glocal Service Projects

As many of you know, Tokyo, Japan will be our first international host city next summer for the 6th Annual Global Citizens Youth Summit and the 2nd Annual Professional Development Seminar. Applications are now open for both programs. We have been busy with preparations for these two programs as well as another first: the inaugural GCI Forum will also take place in Tokyo next summer. Stay tuned for more information on how we will begin a dialogue with the Japanese community on how to best prepare the next generation in Japan to lead effectively and with purpose.

Next year will hold more new firsts for GCI. We look forward to sharing it all with you and thank you again for your continued support of GCI!

Happy Holidays!
